Field Report · April – July 2026

The Judge in the Room

What 402 people told us about psychological safety — and what you can do with it on a Monday morning.

Over three months in 2026, we delivered 20 trainings in psychological safety and emotional intelligence for global teams. At the end of every training, participants told us what they noticed about themselves and what they would change on Monday. This report is what they said — in their own words, anonymised, counted by hand.

What’s inside

Five findings, seven practices, and the participants’ own voices.

Five findings from 402 participants.

The judgement people fear most is their own — Do Not Judge Yourself resonated nearly twice as strongly as Do Not Judge Others. Everyone believes the fear of speaking up is theirs alone, and the discovery that it’s universal comes as visible relief. Psychological safety turns out to be a state that moves in minutes, not a trait that takes years. And the gap between valuing a training and feeling confident to apply it is where most development budgets quietly die.

Seven practices you can start next week.

Each one drawn directly from what participants committed to change. No budget, no permission, no job title required.

The participants’ own voices.

Dozens of verbatim reflections from leaders, engineers, researchers and project managers inside global organisations — the sentences people write ten minutes after experiencing psychological safety rather than hearing about it.

Where the data comes from

20 trainings. 402 participants. Nine sectors.

April to July 2026. Chemicals, energy, pharmaceuticals, logistics, engineering, insurance, technology, care and academic research. Average rating for “this training was valuable to me”: 6.0 out of 7. 96% would recommend it to a colleague. Every response anonymised — we name sectors, never companies or people. The full method note is in the report.
